About Parish
St. Jude Thaddeus church Kumbalangad
which is the one and only parish in the name of St. Jude Thaddeus in Archdioceses
of Thrissur.
Former
days, this parish was under the parish of Kundannoor and our ancestors were walking
3-4 kms to their sacramental and liturgical needs.
In 1947-48 Fr. Paul Kallookaran, gave the idea about the new church in Kumblangad because of the inconveniences of our parishioners.
People accepted it whole heartedly and started their work seeking a suitable place. Then we got appropriate place.
In
1967 Fr.Rocky Vazhappilly became the vicar of kundannoor. He enlightened the idea
of the new church by raising the fund. Then Fr.Jacob Ainikkal came as the vicar.
He is the founder father for the parish.
Kumblangad
is a small village of poor families. therefore we couldn’t realise the construction
work with our effort. At that time we got a foreign sponser on the condition
that the church must be in name of St.Jude Thaddeus, the Apostle.
Rev.Dr.Mar.Joseph Kundukulam
concecrated the new chapel with 109 families in the name of St.Jude Thaddeus on
27th April 1974. Sunday holy mass,Sunday school catechism and the
other sacramentals were ministered here on coming days.In 1979, the cemetery was
constructed.
During the time of Fr. Jose
Thekkekara, our chapel erected as a Parish and Priest was coming from
kundanoor. We celebrated the novena of St.Jude on every Thursday.
Since 1993 the Parish administration changed to
the vicar of Attathra Church.Later in 2004 it was declared as independent
parish and Rev.Fr.Soly Thattil became first resident vicar.
On 20th April 2008 the Relic
of our Patron was brought from Italy and put it for public veneration with the
help of Fr.Biju Valiyaveetil,the parishioner.
